What building code does Austin, TX use?
Austin, TX currently enforces the 2024 International Building Code. Austin adopts its own code editions. Austin superseded its 2021 codes by adopting the 2024 editions via City Code Ch. 25-12 (ordinances passed 2025-04-10, effective 2025-07-10), keeping the Uniform Mechanical/Plumbing Codes instead of IMC/IPC and retaining the previously adopted 2023 NEC.
